My Mother is a Fussy One

The Epitome of Perseverance

My daughter watches an advertisement for the ‘First Cry’ brand. She wishes that I become a fussy mother. She feels, in that way, she can get various products of baby care. This angel does not know that being fussy is a way of living. It is not about utilizing products. Well, my mother had been fussy when this word was not even popular.

Waking Up Early was very important for her. She praised my brother as he was the friend of Mr. Sun. I was humiliated.

During childhood when she used to wake me early on holidays she used to say -

My mother hates procrastination. I was a pro-procrastinator. Like, sometimes while dusting I wanted to play some music. Sometimes, I started dancing. If some project was to be completed, I kept it till the last day. I and my mother had small fights due to this.

I was a person with happy go lucky attitude. There were certain disagreements with her. To strike the chord of punctuality, my mother used to advise in the form of Kabir’s phrases in Hindi

She is meticulous, she is an artist. She is known for her elegant dressing sense. With minimum resources, she wanted to dress us in a modern and stylish way. Good at stitching and knitting, she made us popular in our community. Her work has cleanliness and detail.

Being in the kitchen is hard for her. She is not fond of cooking. Still, the food she cooks is our favorite. She is very specific about a balanced diet. Frequent munching irritates her. One more favorite dialogue of my mother regarding food is

The bad handwriting of my brother turned her furious. Daily she sat beside him to improve it. Until he wrote readable sentences, she did not give up.

If I wasted time on certain people then she used to advise me to say NO to them. She had a critical view of my friends. She asked me to pay attention to my work rather than involve with others. On this part, I struggle a lot.

One cannot please her easily. She has a taunting way of teaching lessons. If I was not able to find something I started yelling at her. The very second she used to find the particular thing and said;

During her busy days, she always finds time for her hobbies. She is a curious woman, a fast and varied learner. If she indulged in creating something, she did not stop until it was completed. She says,

Her wardrobe is so well-maintained. She takes care of her items very minutely. Age-old sarees and jewelry shine as new. One more piece of advice she gives,

Striving for continuous improvement is her way of living. To achieve perfectionism, sometimes she becomes restless.

By the passing time, I have learned the value of time. I wish to attain the small percent of perfectionism that she possesses.

I do not know if I will be able to become a fussy mother as per my daughter’s demands. Even I do not know whether being fussy is fruitful or not. But, it is the new talk of the town. Do I need to go with the trend?

My mother defeated a deadly disease ten years ago. That story will be discussed some other time. We are blessed that she is thriving and taking care of her family. I wish her long and happy life ahead!
