Give God the Best

Because the Levites weren’t given any inheritance with the rest of the Israelites, go commanded that most of the offerings that were supposed to go to Him would actually go to the Levites. It was their payment for being the caretakers of the Tabernacle and all the priestly duties.

Even though God could have said all the offerings were His, He gave most of it to the Levites. But He did tell them to dedicate the best of it to Him.

God is still asking for the best, but now He’s asking for the best of you.

What do you spend your money on? What do you spend your time doing? What do your work hard at in your free time? Where is the best of your efforts going?

The answer to these questions should be God, His kingdom and His church.

Your entire life belongs to God. He created you. He gave His life for yours, but He doesn’t ask you to dedicate every bit of your life to Him. You can spend your money on the stuff you want. You can spend your time and energy on the things you decide. But God wants you to take the best parts of that and use it for Him.

That may mean you give the first part of every paycheck to the church. It may mean you spend some free hours mentoring a fatherless youth in your church. It may mean figuring out what you’re good at and finding a way to use that to better your local church.

God gives us everything, and He let’s us keep most of it. But make sure you’re dedicating the best of it back to Him.
