Wave Conference 2018

Wave is the annual, three day conference held by Celebration Church for teenagers and youths living in the Austin area. The second convention of Wave took place between the 13th and 15th of June 2018. The event brought together 1,100 middle school, high school and college-aged students who experienced Jesus through live worship and impactful messages.

I had the privilege of interviewing the Student Life Pastor at Celebration Church, Avery Montgomery. He states, “for Wave, my prayer was and my expectations were that students would experience Christ. I believe every student caught the vision of actually going out and being a part of the Wave. Students also got to take their next steps towards God and their relationship with him. I want students to know that if they move towards God, or a step towards something new, I promise that your experience will triumph over my explanation. ”

Avery has a strong passion for the next-generation. He will continue to put on Wave Student Conferences with the rest of the Celebration Church staff.

He further says, “one word to describe Wave 18 was ‘more’. It was more than I thought it was going to be. God loves these students more than I love these students. God has a future for these students more than I could ever preach about. I am just super thankful that God was ‘more’ at Wave 18.”

I also had the opportunity to interview Grace Doering. She is a part of the summer high school internship program at Celebration Church.

She recounts her experience of Wave 18 with excitement. “Putting on Wave 18 with the other interns was really exciting. This was our first thing we did together because the internship didn’t really start yet. For Wave, God revealed to me so much with the speakers and worship. God revealed to me that I had to push myself to greater things. I was not expecting the crazy move that God made in my life!”

Wave 18 brought life changes and made a significant impact on the perspective of the students lives. This event conveys the powerful move of God in the next generation.
