To Kill an Outsourcing Bird

Has the US Administration declared war on outsourcing? That’s an exaggeration. There’s no Gandalf on Capitol Hill to cry out: “You shall not outsource!”

How are you even supposed to ban outsourcing? From the “technical” point of view, I mean.

The funny thing about the (inevitable) “outsourcegeddon” is that you can hardly find someone who takes the worst case scenario for real. What will happen if the US Government bans outsourcing? That was actually one of the questions in Outsourcing topic on Quora. I found an interesting answer.

That would be one hell of a funny paradox. Why?

Someone may ask me, why do you even care? You’re a freelancer. What’s that got to do with outsourcing?

Well, if your neighbor’s house is on fire, you can’t just sit and do nothing. If the experiment with outsourcing turns out to be a success, who’s stopping you to do the same with freelancing? The next “brilliant” idea could be that the US clients should work only with the US freelancers. For me personally, that would mean to lose all of my clients.

It would be a stupid thing to try to kill an outsourcing bird because it’s not mocking us, but actually laying the golden business eggs. Can you imagine the world without outsourcing? I can’t.
