You have to make a decision. You have to take action.

So many of us talk about how change happens after a certain amount of time, going through a loss, breaking free from an addiction, quitting our job, and that you won’t be okay until after that certain amount of time has elapsed. But change doesn’t require anything else but one single decision. It is that decision that you choose to make, to change something in your life for the better, to move on from the suffering you have been putting yourself through. That decision, is what will change you and your life.

That does not mean you can be overweight and be sitting on the couch, making the decision to become healthy and fit, and all of a sudden you are healthy and fit. No, this decision has to be so deeply rooted that you can almost feel the ground under your feet shift. It is a decision that will make these two words start ringing in your mind every single waking moment, “no more”. No more will you suffer from this, no more will you wake up feeling unhappy and depressed, no more will you look in the mirror and feel embarrassed.

Realise that these moments in your life, where you feel like you’ve hit rock bottom, that nothing could ever get you out of this situation, is truly an opportunity from life to make a change. It is these moments of pain and suffering that are hiding the true beauty in life, which is our ability as humans to grow and adapt with a relentless vision for who we can become.

It is that vision that will keep you going no matter what life throws at you, reminding you that no matter if you take a giant leap, or a baby step, you are still moving closer towards your vision. But all of this comes down to one simple thing that we all have to take responsibility for, and that’s our faith in ourselves.

If you don’t believe in yourself, in that you can make that vision become a reality, you won’t. It’s so easy to be a pessimist and label it as “realism”, saying “I will believe it when I see it.”, letting your fear of being wrong take control. But in order for you to bring something into reality that has never existed, you have to first believe it and instead say, “I will see it, when I believe it.”.
